A note from our cantor

I am a relative newcomer to the Charleston area myself. It didn’t take very long however, for me to learn that Synagogue Emanu-El is committed to offering special and meaningful programming for every one of it’s families. It’s a congregation that provides a caring and supportive environment of spiritual fulfillment. At the same time, the members are able to form social bonds that will enrich their lives and the community at large.

My responsibilities are two-fold:

First, I join with Rabbi Zionce in articulating a goal that our services be
participatory, true to the liturgy, and meaningful for our lives today. I strive at all times to accurately interpret and enrich the text of our prayers.

Second, I serve as the principal of our Religious School, and accept the challenge of creating our next generation of Jewish leaders. Our intention is to have all the students feel the joy of Judaism and to want to carry that joy with them throughout their lives.

At Synagogue Emanu-El, we are ceaselessly working toward maintaining a congregation where G-d, Torah, tradition and ethics walk hand-in-hand in the shaping of modern Jewish life. We look forward to your joining us, working and growing with us, sharing and enjoying with us.
