Madeline List Hershenson

 
  Ms. Hershenson is the founder and music director of the Jewish Choral Society of Charleston, sponsored by the Jewish Studies Department of the College of Charleston. She is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music in New York where she received a:  

Bachelor of Arts in piano, and a
Masters of Music in Education 

 

Ms. Hershenson has been on tour throughout Europe and Israel as accompanist for the Israel Philharmonic Choir and the Zamir Chorale under the direction of Daniel Barenboim and Zubin Mehta. She performed as a violinist and keyboard soloist  For eleven years with the Kingsboro Orchestra of Brooklyn, New York. 

 
 

For many years, Ms. Hershenson has been a teacher both in public school and private practice.  She has worked with string and guitar classes, choruses and bands. At present, she is the string and chorus director at James Island High School and three other schools in Charleston County.
